What are Sundays like at Emmanuel?

Every Sunday at 10:00 am, the people of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church gather to worship God and encourage one another. Our goal in worship is to reorient our lives around the One who is our center. St. Paul says that in Jesus Christ, “all things hold together.” Weekly worship gives us the opportunity to set aside the burden of trying to “hold it together” and remember that we are held together by Jesus.

Our sanctuary seats about 140 people, and most Sundays, around 60-70 of us gather to worship in person, with about 20 joining us on Zoom. Whether you are a lifelong Christian, curious about Jesus, or simply exploring spirituality, you are warmly welcome here.

Kids

We offer a small Sunday school program. Kids begin in worship with their families and are dismissed partway through the service. If it’s your first time, we invite you to walk your child to the classroom to check in with our teachers. Children under 2 are welcome to remain in the sanctuary with their parents, and we also have a comfortable cry room available for infants and toddlers if needed.

Worship and Belief

The Bible is central to our worship. Scripture calls us to worship, assures us of God’s love, guides us in prayer, serves as the foundation for the pastor’s sermon, and sends us forth with God’s blessing. Our music includes a blend of traditional hymns and contemporary songs, thoughtfully chosen to reflect the day’s theme. Worship is accompanied by our pianist and a small group of musicians who play acoustic instruments, adding a warm and personal touch.

Hope, refuge and service are our three guiding values. HOPE: Above all, we affirm the triune God who is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Together they exist in a relationship of love, created all that is in love and is drawing us back into relationship through Jesus Christ. We are a Presbyterian and Reformed congregation, rooted in the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. REFUGE: At Emmanuel, we believe all people are created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with dignity. As Psalm 46 says God is our refuge and a help in times of trouble. Jesus is our peace. SERVICE: We care deeply about justice and strive to reflect God’s love in our community and the world. We donate fresh produce we grow onsite to the food bank, serve in our communities, and strive to love our neighbors as Jesus loves us.

No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome here. We hope to see you soon!
