*Call to Worship
Kristin Bohreer, Liturgist
One: Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches.”
All: We come, seeking to strengthen our connection with him.
One: Those who abide in Christ bear much fruit.
All: We come because we long to produce the fruit of righteousness.
One: We gather now for worship, to the glory of God.
All: May we grow in faith, justice and love, as God lovingly tends us.

*Song of Praise: Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee #20
Ensemble
Joyful, joyful, we adore thee, God of glory, Lord of love;
hearts unfold like flowers before thee, opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, drive the dark of doubt away;
giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day!

All thy works with joy surround thee, earth and heaven reflect thy rays,
stars and angels sing around thee, center of unbroken praise.
Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea,
chanting bird and flowing fountain call us to rejoice in thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest,
wellspring of the joy of living, ocean-depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother – all who live in love are thine;
teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine.

Call to Prayer: Galatians 5:13-15; 22-25

Meditation on the text and silent prayers of confession

Song of Supplication: Create in Me a Clean Heart
Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a right spirit within me
Cast me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and renew a right spirit within me

Word of Assurance: Ephesians 2:4-10

Song of Gratitude: Thy Mercy My God
Thy mercy my God is the theme of my song,
the joy of my heart, and the boast of my tongue.
Thy free grace alone, from the first to the last,
hath won my affection and bound my soul fast.

Without thy sweet mercy, I could not live here.
Sin would reduce me to utter despair.
But through thy free goodness, my spirit's revived
and he that first made me still keeps me alive.

Thy mercy is more than a match for my heart,
which wonders to feel its own hardness depart.
Dissolved by thy goodness, I fall to the ground,
and weep for the praise of the mercy I've found.

Great Father of mercies, thy goodness I own
In the covenant love of thy crucified Son.
All praise to the Spirit, whose whisper divine
seals mercy and pardon and righteousness mine.

Scripture Reading:  John 15:1-8

You are the vine; we are the branches
Keep us abiding in You
You are the vine; we are the branches
Keep us abiding in You

Then we’ll grow In Your love
And we’ll go In Your name
That the world will surely know
That You have power to heal and to save
