Order of Service
“Today can be filled with joy because God is still at work, bringing the kingdom, and because words of grace can still be spoken and forgiveness can still be experienced. What outrageous good news – a camel passed through the eye of a needle!”
--Alan Culpepper
“One of the hardest things in life is to surrender control, to allow ourselves to be truly led by God.” -- Ruth Haley Barton

Welcome and Announcements
Responsive Call to Worship
“Come,” says the Lord. “All you who are thirsty, come to the waters.”
“Come. Here there is bread and wine for your soul.”
“Come,” says the Lord, “come be my people, and I will be your God.”
We are your people. You are our God. Come, let us walk in the way of the Lord!
Let us worship God!

Holy Spirit come

Holy Spirit come
Holy Spirit come
As deep cries out to deep
As deep cries out to deep

Responsive Prayer of Confession
God of love, when we wander away it is your grace that calls us back to you.
You receive us with mercy, and we give thanks.
Loving Christ, when we are lost and lonely in a far land, you accompany us in love, and guide us home.
You receive us with grace, and we give thanks.
Holy Spirit, your joy in us calls us, blesses us, and revives us.
We celebrate, for we who were lost are found! We who were dead are alive!
By your invitation we come to your table to feast in joy.
(Silence is kept for private prayer)
Assurance of Pardon
Scripture – Luke 19:1-10
Sermon
Rev. Patrick Vaughn
“Just as I Am”
Just as I am without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee
O Lamb of God I come I come
Just as I am and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot
O Lamb of God I come I come
Chorus:
I come broken to be mended
I come wounded to be healed
I come desperate to be rescued
I come empty to be filled
I come guilty to be pardoned
By the blood of Christ the Lamb
And I'm welcomed with open arms praise God
Just as I am
Just as I am I would be lost
But mercy and grace my freedom bought
And now to glory in Your cross
O Lamb of God I come I come
Chorus
Offertory
In response to God's grace, we offer our thinking, talents, treasure and prayers.
May Father, Son and Spirit be glorified as we offer ourselves to love and serve God.
Celebration of Communion
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.
Let us give thanks and praise to the Lord.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Prayers of the People & The Lord’s Prayer
*Closing Song
“Softly and Tenderly”
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me
See on the portals He's waiting and watching
Watching for you and for me
Chorus:
Come home come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling O sinner come home
Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading
Pleading for you and for me
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies
Mercies for you and for me
Chorus
Time is now fleeting the moments are passing
Passing from you and from me
Shadows are gathering death-beds are coming
Coming for you and for me
Chorus
O for the wonderful love He has promised
Promised for you and for me
Tho we have sinned He has mercy and pardon
Pardon for you and for me
